The Temptress Martini
The Temptress Martini is shared by The Club Member Elizabeth Petrakis from Halkitha, Greece. (For more of her delicious dessert recipes, check out her Facebook page titled Cupcakes.etc.) Elizabeth's Temptress martini features the kumquat, which is a small citrusy fruit famous for its fragrant peel and a deep orange color. Vodka is the perfect conduit to convey the kumquat's flavory in a cool, straight-up way. She garnishes the martini with a sprig of arbaroriza, which is a scented geranium plant commonly found in Greece and Cyprus. For those who don't have access to arbaroriza, Elizabeth adds that a sprig of rosemary is the perfect substitute.
Ingredients:
3 kumquats, one sliced in half
Sprig of arbaroriza (pictured) or rosemary
0.2 oz. Triple sec
3 oz. Vodka
1.5 oz. dry Vermouth
Combine sliced kumquat, arbaroriza (or rosemary), and Triple sec in a cocktail shaker. Press the leaves and kumquat slices against the bottom of the shaker using a muddler, or back of a wooden spoon, to release flavors; add ice, vermouth and vodka. Shake vigorously until thoroughly chilled. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with two remaining kumquats on a skewer and the sprig of abaroriza or rosemary. Cheers!
